Gwendolyn Horton, Editorial Director and Senior Writer for Design Within Reach and Chatham resident details the history of the Sail Loft at 38 Bridge Street in Chatham. The original building was constructed in the 1850's and has had many uses over the years. Originally a residence, then candle factory, a sail loft, a retail store and finally returned to a family residence and upgraded to a very appealing home. Many of the original artifacts are lovingly restored and incorporated into the architectural design.
